Famous chef tastes sushi
Wednesday August 31, 2005A selection of Jersey’s finest eateries competed against each other in the style of BBC cookery program ‘Ready Steady Cook’. The competition was hosted at the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust in Trinity, which was also broadcasted live on radio Channel 103fm. The chefs were only able to use ingredients grown from the Organic Farm, which produces all the food for the animals at the zoo. The competition was judged by Marco Pierre White, honorary director of the Durrell Conservation Trust Lee Durrell and Mick Balleine from the Durrell Wildlife Organic Farm.
Martyn and Chris represented the chefs from Jersey Sushi. Martyn commented, “It was fantastic to be selected for this competition as we’ve only been trading for such a short while. It was great to compete against The Atlantic Hotel, The Grand Hotel, Wayside Cafe, The Salty Dog, and Longueville Manor. Naturally I’m used to cooking under pressure, but not with a live audience and radio commentary around me! I hope that everybody who tasted my dish enjoyed it as much as I did cooking it.”
